A discussion event with Luke Skrebowski (University of Manchester) about contemporary artists's novels, and how the plastic and literary arts can come together through fiction writing in a post-conceptual milieu.
We talked about the relationship between sculpture and the novel after the opening of the expanded field, and in light of conceptual art’s embrace of the book form but its rejection of literature. Artist’s novels by Martha Rosler, Rodney Graham and Mike Kelly, amongst others, were contextualised in relation to those artists's wider practices.
