Drama Queens: York to Hollywood Book I is a strange chapbook, of sorts.
It features five non-consecutive pages from a self-published romance novel that happen to feature Hollywood actor Nick Thurston. Those re-typed pages are sutured by three new pages written by another Nick Thurston (me) to abridge the style and plotlines of the rest of that novel. Together, those eight pages are printed and folded as one infinitely looping quarto, such that page 8 coherently runs back into page 1. The page design and cover layout all match the original romance novel.

The quarto sheet was originally published in the tenth-anniversary special edition boxset of the Irish literary journal Gorse (no.10, 2018).

"Nick Thurston awoke from uneasy dreams to find himself already a minor character in a romance novel. Whether “Nick Thurston” shall turn out to be the hero of someone else’s story, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show. I have never begun a novel with more misgiving."
